About Me

Hello, I specialise in fashion culture, branding and communication

I am an exceptionally creative and ambitious graduate with a comprehensive understanding of design trends and visual communication, including a good understanding of Adobe CC and digital media. I also have several years of experience working, volunteering and campaigning within the mental health charity sector.

During my final year I researched how people with autism are affected by clothing and fashion, and in response, I created a brand called The Comfort Closet which was an autism and sensory-friendly collection for adults with an accompanying guidebook. For my final major project, I created a brand called Aesthetic-Core which was inspired by the fashion aesthetics of Tik Tok and Tumblr. From exploring digital cultures, I incorporated the collection into video games and explored how social platforms Discord and Twitch could be better utilised by marketers.

INSPIRATION

The Comfort Closet – Autism & Sensory Friendly Collection and Guidebook

Step into The Comfort Closet and emerge yourself in a world of sensory-friendly clothing. Feel the super-soft fabrics and learn about how fashion can incorporate those with autism and sensory processing disorders. The overall outcome of this project was a guidebook, which incorporated both a lookbook and a styling guide. The graphic design for this was carefully done, paying attention to accessibility requirements for neurodivergent conditions, autism, dyslexia, and anxiety.

The photography for the collection followed the concept that the images should be as realistic as possible. With normal-looking models in the locations where the clothes would be used. The guidebook uses icons and keys to explain to the reader where the garment should be worn, along with the key features and some general tips on styling. An additional sensory-friendly edition guidebook was also created, with fewer images, more concise pages and the book being desaturated.

DETAIL

Aesthetic-Core

I created the brand Aesthetic-Core, drawing on the current Tik Tok trends of fashion aesthetics. A digital campaign plan was created that contained a social media plan covered Instagram, Tik Tok, Discord and Twitch, in addition to a video game integration plan. This involved the creation of two downloadable item packs which are outfits from the e-girl collection, avaliable for Dota 2 and Animal Crossing.

My dissertation allowed me to develop my two key interests in fashion which is culture and history. I explored the fashion of the emo-subculture and identified the origins and evolution of the style.
