About Me

Hi! I'm Cris, and I'm a Pattern Cutting Menswear Fashion Desinger

I'm a fashion student which creed is based on free expressions, Fashion is a way to communicate your persona, as people, everything we do can have an impact, and for me, we process to communicate and deliver something positive where people can connect with.

I'm an open-minded person, I always try to see and understand what's going on around me and this is where all my major inspiration comes from. As a black man, I also try to relate my work with my background, heritage, because it's part of myself and makes me as a person. Personally, I think is cool to be able to share my part of our culture/history, also to make people understand our life to connect and create.

INSPIRATION

"The history of a Black Man"

My concepts for all three projects they all moving towards black people and the black community in general, in the first one I look into Black Activism in Black History. In my second project is aesthetic culture with an introduction of “The Black Gatsby” based on a concept of hope. It's a narrative of the journey of a black man going through his history between the present past and possible future.

The historical inspiration comes from black history focusing on the Black Panther Party during the 1970s, where black people were encouraged by the world of Malcolm X and Martin Luther King, lead by Huey Newton decide to take action to defend the black people community against society. This is what inspires the Black Lives Matter we see today on TV, or in the street. Time goes by but nothing changed as black people and other minorities still fight hoping for a better future.
