About Me

A creative, dynamic and lively Ginger with a huge passion for sewing.

I discovered the fashion world thanks to my grandmother which was a seamstress, and since I was a child I was already introduced to the world of sewing and craftsmanships. Indeed, since primary school, I always knew what my path was going to be.

The side that I enjoy the most is the textile design and manipulation field, having the chance with textile and beading to enrich a garment making it even more beautiful and special. Because in my opinion, every piece has to be precious and transmit the love and passion that were putted in it.

INSPIRATION

A journey inside a 1920 family photo book.

This collection, Actias, is the result of two big ideas, the passion for craftsmanship and the history of Friolotto’s family. Indeed, the main inspiration comes from an old family photo book that belongs to the twenties/thirties and so with the garments of that time we start a travel that will get us know also the hidden passions of my ancestors such as insectology, botanics and craftsmanship like crochet and hand embroidery.

Thus themes are combined to other sub themes: surrealism, car design shapes, and then branching out to the insectology with metamorphic studies and its way of being used also in the esoteric field as a symbol, and finally arriving to the cult of tarot’s; taking the design of the cards as a hint for sketching my designs. This collection is a recall and a tribute to my roots, to the persons and the things that made me who I am today.

MY WORK

PORTFOLIOS

DETAIL

Keen eye on textile manipulations and fabrics.

There’s a keen eye for the materials. All the fabrics are high quality and all of them are from Italian producers, such as Taroni that provides the best quality of silks, while for the wools like Tasmania, Fresco di lana and cachemire, are all from wool mills of my hometown, Biella. All the fabrics are solid colors, the patterns and designs are then printed or embroidered on to achieve the precious handmade finish. As previously mentioned, this collection is enriched of fabric manipulation and old different techniques of printing, that with the passing of the years are slowly disappearing more and more. Textile manipulations are an incredible way to enrich every garment, donating it a charming appeal. Personally, working with fabrics is one of the most fascinating things ever, and mainly in this last two years has also become as a way to escape the reality, working and building my knowldeges and creating something that won’t stop at its primary use, but will get a new life, aeshetic and value.

The importance of keeping alive traditions such as family heritage and craftsmanship knowledges, is key for the creation of something unique and peculiar.
