About Me

Chinese fashion creative from Bath, UK.

As a member of the minority groups, I appreciate and celebrate every unique cultures and identities. I hope to raise more recognitions and awarenesses of minority creative individuals. I'm very lucky to have a multi-cultural background that allows me to view matters with a unique vision.

I've spent the majority of my childhood in the UK. This life experience had given me the opportunity to be exposed to Western histories and more specifically British subcultures. I had found myself developed an interest in the vintage and thrifting scene. I'm very fascinated by the natural wear-and-tears of vintage garments and the stories it tells about its previous owners. I often find myself looking at a vintage garment, I'd subconsciously think about what I would do If I was to re-design it, how I can elevate it, so I always end up buying these garments and customising them.

INSPIRATION

My initial concept was simply wanting to give second-hand garments a new life.

Upcycling isn't anything groundbreaking, people had been doing this for many years. As the fashion industry became more and more pollutive, sustainability had never been the highest priority of every brands. My biggest inspiration for my collection was that I wanted to have a fresh take on upcycling, I wanted to address the issue of sustainability through my own lens by creating timeless and wearable garments that are truly sustainable.

DETAIL

Customisation to its fullest

My collection is heavily surrounded by the ethos of upcycling and customisation. I wanted to change how clothes can be made and upcycling was the perfect solution for me to conceptualise my ideas as well as to address current important societal issues. All garments in my collection are made up of 100% second hand garments and deadstock fabrics, and were designed through the process of 'freestyling'. This design process can be applied to any existing garments and each outcomes are truly unique 1-of-1 pieces, customisation to its fullest. For me, the whole 'freestyling' process is part of the final product that should also be appreciated.
