About Me

Hi, I'm Valentina, a graduate of Colegiatura Colombiana.

Valentina was inspired by the introspection of an artisan soul, passionate about the subtle beauty that inhabits the countryside and animals. A sensitive and nostalgic attraction to return to the origin and thus rescue what we have stopped having in mind due to the desire for progress when we migrate from the countryside to the city.

My message is based on the intention of showing through metaphors and manual interventions the importance of keeping in mind our roots and the value of ancestral knowledge, preserving these as a treasure over the years, and exalting the magic that inhabits it. The field thus generating an analogy between love and revolution. Creating a story because of the need to keep alive an ancestral past that understands very well that animals have the same value and respect as humans. As a result, I present the idea of a strong woman, full of character and voice. She is capable of doing any job.

INSPIRATION

MY INSPIRATION COMES FROM THE CONNECTION THAT EXISTS BETWEEN ANCESTRAL KNOWLEDGE AND THE COUNTRYSIDE

My inspiration comes from the connection that exists between femininity and the countryside, it is based on the idea of showing the world ancestral roots tinged with nostalgia, which want to return to be preserved and exposed in the form of emerging femininity full of value, through manual textures, which when executed generate a mental-motor connection led to tangible objects, where i expose the idea that appreciate the delicate sigh of creation.

While I'm making a manual creation, I preserve a technique that was inherited from me by my nanny, but that behind her countless predecessors gave her a legacy that today belongs to me, a legacy that I want to preserve although cities progress and life. I want to show the world through my constant concern a bit of that ancestry, the field where it arises and the delicate stitches of female hands that make great ideas possible. Exposing to the world, the soul of the field in fragments.

MY WORK

PORTFOLIOS

DETAIL

I USE MY HANDS TO CREATE TEXTURES USING NATURAL DYES, UNCONVENTIONAL MATERIALS AND EMBROIDERY YARNS

In the materialization of my garments, I accompanied the embroidery techniques with traditional supplies with unconventional materials, for this reason, I created manual embroideries made with nurse hooks, cotton threads and fibers. use different natural dyeing techniques with blackberries and flowers. And finally, I made quilting in a sewing machine in the shape of Petals, these were made without any guide, like a flat on a cloth canvas. My collection is an exhibition of ancestral techniques that exposes the nostalgia of a past that lives present in my constant evolution.

“Los ojos que ven, no son los mismos que aprecian. Muchos pasamos por la vida ignorando los pequeños tesoros, otros apreciamos el delicado suspiro de la creación.” -VM
