About Me

HI, IM ZOE A GRUADUATE FROM NTU WHO WANTS TO BE A STYLIST

I was inspired by the seriousness of pollution in Hong Kong. In order to protect the environment and promote sustainability, I have used organic fabrics for my products and natural dying for my patchwork.

My message is to remind people raise the awareness of pollutions problem and the nature is more precious due to the problem of pollution is more serious. And my style of fashion is "East meets West".

INSPIRATION

My initial idea came from my sleeping experience in Hong Kong which has disturbed by light pollution

I had found the air, light and rubbish pollutions are the most serious problem in Hong Kong. The air and rubbish pollution inspires me to decide the weight of fabrics and different medias to do the stand work like rubbish bags. The light pollution inspires me the bold and bright colours which can be contrast with massive colours and some for patchworking. I have searched about ancient Chinese costume around Qing dynasty in order to know how it looks like and will keep some characteristics like collar.

For the nature, It has inspired me to use the colours for natural dyeing with natural fabrics and I will choose some eco-friendly fabrics like organic fabrics. In additions, contrast in bright colour is my main characteristic to show my concept and I will use different methods to present it such as Amish Quilting and contrast in details like stitches. Moreover, my garment will be functional like transferable to promote my concept and it is a kind of selling point that the customers can style themselves.

DETAIL

Natural dyeing with food

In order to present nature, I have taken the colour from nature photography and tried to use natural dyeing to present them. I have used red onion skins to dye the reddish brown and it went well. I have mixed with half cup of brown onion skin and 1 tea spoon to dye the massive yellow-orange and it went well too. This is a kind of my features of my outerwear and also can promote sustainability to dye fabrics in food to remind people about the precious nature.

Work hard, Play hard and Rest well.
