About Me

BA (Hons) Fashion Design graduate from Nottingham Trent University

Abigail wall is a menswear designer specialising in tailoring and outerwear with a contemporary edge.

After studying fashion design for three years, including an additional placement year within the industry, I have gained extensive experience in menswear design and production across various market levels. During my time at university, I participated in industry briefs for prominent high-street brands such as NEXT and AllSaints, achieving first place in both competitions. Additionally, I worked on a design project for the luxury label Paul Smith, where I was awarded runner-up.

INSPIRATION

'The Sculptor's Hands'

My FMP Project, titled ‘The Sculptor’s Hands’ pays tribute to the tradition of hand tailoring in Britain. Inspired by my Midlands roots and family ties to garment manufacturing, particularly my grandmother’s experience as a highly skilled seamstress at a factory in Derby, specialising in the tailoring of overcoats and blazers.

This project explores the artistry and precision of bespoke tailoring, celebrating the labour-intensive processes. Throughout this project, I drew inspiration from traditional hand tailoring techniques like pad stitching and creating internal canvassing. My goal was to bring these methods to the forefront of my design process. The silhouettes in this collection are structured and exaggerated, yet remain wearable, with a strong emphasis on using high-quality fabrics and manufacturing techniques.

DETAIL

Minimal Tailored Details

Subtle details are the cornerstone of this collection, whether in fabric choice, high-quality trims, or exaggerated cuffs and collars. Every element of the garments is carefully considered. Each piece is designed to be interchangeable and worn together, creating a timeless capsule wardrobe.
