About Me

Hi, I'm Amelia, and I am a fashion knitwear graduate from NTU.

My work holds a passion for blending historical and contextual influences together to craft luxurious and timeless garments. My collections encapsulate a deep appreciation for rich heritage and tradition to celebrate times gone by.

By drawing inspiration from various historical periods, I strive to create pieces that embody elegance and sophistication but also tell a story. My commitment to quality is evident in every stitch, as I strive to push the boundaries of traditional knitwear and redefine what it means to create luxury fashion. With hand craft being a large aspect of my work I create unique and luxurious collections whilst simultaneously challenging the fast-fashion saturated market that we see today.

INSPIRATION

“Historic Opulence” focuses on the complex relationship between the Tudors and Rome.

The project explores the extravagant fashions of the British aristocracy and the grandeur of Roman architecture during the English Reformation of 1534. Heavenly scenes in Italian church interiors provide grand, inspiring patterns and use of colour. Layered with extravagant Tudor designs, they form elaborate, handcrafted pieces creating layers of decadence. This statement collection combines harmonious heritage colours with regal-inspired fabrics, balancing contemporary and historic fashion elements.

The collection creates an elegant balance between contemporary and historic fashion. Designed for all ages, it features intricate hand-crafted smocking, delicate lace, and elegant crochet detailing. I strived to create a classic sense of timelessness and quality, essentially making an heirloom for generations. My goal is for those who wear my garments to treasure them year after year and share them with family, creating lasting memories and a sense of continuity through fashion.

DETAIL

This hand-smocked and beaded skirt emphasises the hand crafted element of the project.

By incorporating handcrafted elements such as hand smocking and crochet, the collection links historical processes to contemporary fashion. Crochet and intricate hand smocking of knitted fabrics adds texture and depth, reflecting the elaborate designs of the Tudor period and the grandeur of Roman artistry. These techniques not only elevate the collection but also create a tactile connection to the past, honouring traditional craftsmanship. The use of handcrafting ensures each piece is unique, embodying a timeless quality that blends heritage with modern elegance. Through this approach, the collection becomes a union of history and innovation, offering luxurious, heirloom-quality garments. This integration of historical hand crafted methods enriches the project, showcasing the methods which have shaped fashion across centuries.
