About Me

Hi, I'm Anitta, a Fashion Communication graduate from Bristol

My interests lie within expressing identities and purposeful messaging through styling. I believe that fashion is so much more than just pieces of clothing we choose to put on ourselves; I believe that fashion is a more complex communicative system which enables people to explore their personal values and showcase who they really are as individuals.

My aim is to inspire people by exploring the themes of authenticity and individualism in the pursuit of establishing my visual language. My goal is to seek new alternatives for more gender non-confirming dressing in order to make it possible for all people, despite their age, ethnicity, social status or sexuality, to express the dimensions of their identity without limitations. My work aims to enhance ways that would bring more freedom and flexibility for individuals in terms of self-expression.

INSPIRATION

Expression of Identities

I've been interested in the psychological aspect of fashion, which has led me to combine different styles and perspectives through clothing. The psychological roots that I have discovered from the world of fashion have led me to contemplate on how one can express oneself through clothing and choice of apparel. My work often plays with ideas of making variations and mixing garments that represent traditionally masculine and feminine features, creating a theme of androgyny, embracing both these features.

As I'm very interested in how fashion works in different social milieus & cultures as well, my most recent work explored the connection between a person’s cultural heritage and their identity. I cast individuals a Nordic country help them celebrate their heritage in a unique way by marrying their personal narratives and elements of Finnish nature.

Personalised Styling for Georgie Clough

As one of my self-directed projects I did some personal styling for Georgie Clough. The project explored how and why individuals choose to express themselves authentically with clothing. By conducting interviews with Georgie and working closely with her, I was able to gain a deeper understanding about the development of her identity and what factors impact the need to be seen or hidden - especially how clothing can be used as a tool for this.

"Style is a little ode to creativity and novelty. It gives a hint of personality, a little excursion into self-expression. It is a reflection of your unique complexity as a human" - Shakaila Elise
