About Me

Hi, I'm Caitlin, a Fashion Comms graduate from UWE.

A Creative Director who is conceptually led and considers narrative and the Avant-Garde to Influence all areas of my work. Embracing new ideas and concepts with a visionary outcome through still and moving image.

The Fashion Communication degree has developed my ability to understand creative direction and excel at translating it into desired quality outcomes. One thing I value above all else is having a multidisciplinary approach to fashion, whether that be narrative development, image making or craftsmanship. A key interest of mine is the process of design and making which I feel is curial in contextualising ideas and creating a strong sense of concept.

INSPIRATION

My initial inspiration began with the Japanese concept of “MA”.

The Japanese concept of Ma (間) is a philosophical concept of the space between. It can be interpreted in many ways, for me it means the time and space life needs to breathe. My project explored the noise of humanity and the balance that is restored once mankind returns to the earth. Its title is “longing for the mud”. It’s a conceptual campaign for the “Infinity Burial Suit”.

The infinity Burial suit is a biodegradable burial suit that allows its wearer to be buried with less pollution and damage to the environment than a traditional burial. At the end of life, “mankind” returns to the mud, “mans” reintroduction should be as they entered this earth, with zero waste and zero impact. The only change from life to death, is that our body is worn and holds the secrets and lies of a lifetime. Thus, it’s reintroduction should be modest, sacred and with an armour of protection.

MY WORK

PORTFOLIOS

DETAIL

An Avant-Garde film to accompany the Burial Project.

To further build the narrative around my project “longing for the mud” I created a short experimental film. Its purpose was to visually communicate the space in between, the beauty of humanity. There is no such thing as empty space or time even in the absence of intended sound earthly chatter continues. We must continue to learn, to understand and to listen.

So it goes. - Kurt Vonnegut
