Carys John is the creator, editor, and founder of WNCO MWNCO magazine. She is a researcher, writer, content creator, interviewer, and all-around creative. Her experience encompasses social media content creation and public relations.
Throughout my development as a creative, I have discovered a deep love and passion for research, writing, and content creation. With each project I undertake, I blend my strategic approach of research skilfully with the creative aspect of writing and content creation to make original and unique outputs. In my work, I want to create a positive impact and drive positive change in the world. My passion for making a difference led me to create WNCO MWNCO magazine as a way to dedicate myself to changing the status quo of the creative industry.
INSPIRATION
Being a Welsh creative aspiring to work in the creative industry I have often considered whether I would need to move away from my Welsh roots to be successful. For many years there has been a London-centric focus on the creative industry, with Wales and Welsh creatives receiving little attention from the media. We are led to believe that Wales isn’t a place for successful creativity simply because it isn’t shown across media platforms including publications.
The lack of representation and exposure the Welsh creative scene receives is what led me to create my publication WNCO MWNCO. I wanted to create a publication which represented Wales and Welsh creatives to prove that Wales is a land of opportunity and creativity. I felt that it was my responsibility to change the narrative and present Wales as the thriving and vibrant creative nation it is. We deserve as much exposure as any other nation for our creative scene.
