I am a makeup and hair designer who has a wealth of knowledge and expertise within the creative industries. I see makeup as not only a external method of making someone look beautiful it is important to me that that also feel beautiful too. This keys into the current beauty industry ideal where health and wellness is a priority.
When creating looks I like to keep in mind that makeup is a great catalyst for conversation. It is the first step towards stepping into a world where you can become whomever you wish to be, regardless of gender, age, sexuality, race or ability. My work is explorative, trend driven, fun and a cathartic use of self expression. I just want people to have fun with make up regardless of who they are without the fear of being discriminated for it.
INSPIRATION
Colour and lighting is always a visual point of inspiration for me, and I find myself drawn to the works of artists such as the body painter Trina Mary, and fashion photographer, Lindsey Alder. The ability to capture bodies to encompass their environments has allowed me to develop a clean bold style, that is indicative of how body acceptance has been influenced by Yves Klein and Yayoi Kusama. By focusing on the approaches these artists have taken, my visual vocabulary as a make-up designer has expanded
My beauty inspiration is about emotion, how I feel that moment when I do something totally free, what happened in my life. It's stimulating. While others are influenced by things on the street – I use movies, and narrative based books. It's more about everything coming outside of my body. For me, beauty is the kind of imperfection in perfection. There is an always an element that is smudged, faded or incorrect, and that is the thing that is interesting.
DETAIL
As a makeup artist in this current day and age is is unacceptable to be unequipped for any model that sits in your chair, therefore making sure that I have a diverse portfolio of work has been something that I have aspired for since the start of m career in makeup.
