Charlotte is a multi-disciplinary creative with a love for merging fashion and art. Her broad skill set allows her to make her imagination physical with the use of Illustration, styling, photography and art direction.
After 3 years of studying fashion communication and styling I have enjoyed creating a diverse set of projects. I knew when it came to my final major project (FMP) I wanted to do something that evoked social change as this is something I am passionate about. Getting serious messages through to people in a creative way is something I have enjoyed. In my final major project, I tackle ageism, ableism, racism and homophobia. My outcomes involved a series of short animations and promotional zines alongside a film viewing/exhibition.
INSPIRATION
Snowflake productions is a counter Disney campaign that seeks to re write the history of fairy tales and subvert their narratives. Fantasy provides escapism and allows us to explore our hopes, dreams, and nightmares. But for far too long fairy tales have contained tropes that don’t reflect society today. My FMP is an ode to the woke generation because, what’s wrong with a change for the better?
Some of my other projects are also included. Such as the campaign for the fashion designer Fraser Bruce Miller where I took a personal topic of being mixed race, and turned it into a relatable notion of otherness, that fitted perfectly with Fraser’s brand values. In my other project, The Beauty of Imagination, I documented my dreams and focused on the power of imagination resulting in a multi-media visual story incorporating my illustration skills.
DETAIL
For my FMP I produced 4 short stop motion animations for each story I created. Here is "Age of Svanr" to give you a taster. Svanr is Old Norse for Swan, Inspired by Norse mythology, she shares characteristics with a Valkyrie (half swan warrior-woman) Join her in her fight against society's constraints on age!
