Daisy Behar is a fashion design graduate specialising in womenswear, tailoring, and print design. She excels as a visual communicator, using fashion as a medium to weave compelling narratives inspired by the picturesque Sussex countryside.
My design practice is driven by the confluence of emotive visual sources and personal experiences, to produce womenswear that celebrates the connection between nature and the human experience. My visual language was broadened during my time working at Chanel, Paris, where I gained an understanding in the importance of colour, surface and form in composing a collection; a now embedded methodology in my practice. Classic tailoring, innovative design and print techniques blend seamlessly in my work, resulting in pieces that honour timeless elegance while celebrating contemporary influences.
INSPIRATION
I am a prolific collector of imagery and source materials, constantly drawing inspiration from a diverse range of visual and tactile elements that resonate with me. Often this can be found within the decorative arts or the natural environment. My graduate collection ’In The Light of Equinox’ draws upon these elements, comprising six looks which strive to celebrate the interconnectedness of our existence with nature and the beauty inherent in this relationship.
This is expressed through the interplay of delicate fabrics and colours which embody the serene beauty and timeless charm of the Sussex countryside. Through thoughtful exploration of textile and print design, I strive to evoke a sense of playfulness and whimsey in my collection, creating pieces that are both visually captivating and narratively rich.
DETAIL
To complement the narrative of my collection, I composed a digital print to capture the chaotic dance between flora, fauna, and the creatures therein. Entangled plants weave their stems elegantly amidst mice and squirrels, who revel in their riches.
