About Me

Hello my name is Elisha Fletcher I am a fashion graduate from AUB.

I am a menswear designer specifically feminine menswear. I have been specializing in fashion for five years both at college and university. In this time I have experimented with different materials and fabrications. I like to think of fashion as a medium for my art.

I believe that fashion is an expression of yourself and your individuality and like to create unique clothing that t we feel comfortable in and that expresses who we are. I like to use artwork as an inspiration for my collections and use this to inform the silhouette. I also like to use print within in my designs making each one different throughout my collections.

INSPIRATION

Caravaggio's Saints - Feminine Menswear collection by Elisha Fletcher

My final major project collection is inspired by the 17th Century artwork of Caravaggio and the Catacomb Saints. It is a feminine menswear collection, this is something I am very passionate about and I believe that we need to create garments which represent the society we live in and the people by giving clothing that allows them to express there identity whilst still fitting their figure.

The reason for choosing this theme was to give beautiful artworks which may have been forgotten about, hidden or erased from history a chance to be shown again. The artwork of Caravaggio was the inspiration for the silhouette of the garments. I used traditionally masculine fabrics such as Denim and Cotton Poplin to create the garments. All of the fabric except the denim is printed using prints I created these were inspired by the beautifully hand placed jewels on the Catacomb Saints.

DETAIL

The prints in my collection was inspired by the Catacomb Saints

My prints were created using Mimaki and Sublimation printing techniques. They are inspired by the beautifully placed jewels on the catacomb saints. For my prints I used family jewelry to create my own patterns and placements and creased fabric backgrounds to add depth and opulence to my prints which appear on every outfit.

“Men's fashion is not flashy but women's fashion is, so why not combine them together? When men wear my design, they may say, "I'm still cool even in my dress." Shayne Oliver
