About Me
Hello, I'm Ellie, a design graduate from Solent University.
As a designer with a rich experience within art direction, make-up, hair & fashion photography, my creative vision is driven by attention to detail and the ability to construct a conceptual framework around design led projects. My experimental instincts have led to me becoming a progressive designer, subverting traditions of beauty.
My perception of beauty is as someone who is dedicated to the examination and translation of body image in a digital age, and the questioning of women in the media. By shifting the images of femininity, our understanding of beauty requires a new critique. It is through cross-pollinating ideas and working across a range of visual channels, that my aim is to produce diverse expressions of what is deemed to be 'beautiful'. It enables visual narrative to establish characterisation and challenge the status quo.
INSPIRATION
The unconscious mind and learning from a personal journey of art.
During my degree, I have developed an understanding into visualising a juxtaposition to conceptual ideas. For my final major project, I aimed to find beauty within the chaos of the mind through a reproduction of beautiful, editorial imagery. Exploring colour therapy, photo therapy and symbolistic vials, I was able to enhance my vision and portray a narrative in a subjective manner.
Being creative, I like to tell a story through visuals and explore what lies beneath simplicity. In each experience of their own, everyday life events can influence an impact on the waking self. The waking self develops a visual and psychological response into helping find beauty in the chaos of the mind. It expresses the unconscious levels in the human mind that conveys emotions, desires, and conflicts which is an unaware subject. It translates emotional states through the art of photography and beauty.

It's all about what's visible through the visuals.
I believe that it is more about how the image looks as my attention to fine detail is apparent in a conceptual manner. Being a perfectionist, I ensure my work being produced has built up elements of meaning in every way. My final project allowed me to portray this in using colour to enhance an emotional meaning and perform a connection to the targeted audience. Capturing this through a specific photography technique of long exposure, it enhanced the visibility of influencing a type of feeling and state in creating detailed highlights within the images.
