About Me

Hi I’m Eva, a Fashion Design Graduate from the University of Leeds

I’m a designer specialising in womenswear, with professional experience creating embroidery and embellishment for luxury and bridal brands

The design subjects I’m most passionate about currently include gender-neutral fashion, size-inclusivity and the reinvention of historical fashion and craft through modern technologies. As a professional, I’m eager to explore these concepts at all market levels. This portfolio showcases how I have approached them during my final year.

INSPIRATION

I found inspiration for these collections while visiting my home country, Greece

As I’m interested in historical clothing and craft, I spoke with local women about their textile craft collections, learning about the techniques they used and photographing their archives of handcrafted and inherited pieces. These pieces became the inspiration behind a collection for the iconic contemporary brand Anna Sui, and were reinvented through using modern technologies like laser cutting and machine embroidery.

During the same time, I visited numerous archeological sites and museums. I found inspiration in the geometrical forms of the structures, the hyper-realistic draping sculpted on the statues as well as the effects of weathering on the ruins. I thought these simple forms would be fitting for the minimalistic aesthetic of COS, while I was excited to explore the draped and wrapped silhouettes of the chitons as a means to create gender-inclusive, adjustable garments.

DETAIL

Draping and Adjustable Fastenings

The Ruins collection aimed to create gender-inclusive business wear suitable for the relaxed dress codes of the post-Covid hybrid work environment. Inspired by the detailed draped chitons seen on Ancient Greek statues, I experimented with jersey draping on the stand and later complemented the resulting silhouettes with adjustable fastenings.
