Fungus is non-binary and autistic designer inspired by alternative fashion and clowns who specialised in garment design and production as was as fashion illustration. Clowns are their biggest current special interest which has driven every project in the final year and even some in previous years.
They also like to design without gendering their clothing as they are non-binary and also feel strongly that everyone should feel like they can wear whatever they want and feel fully comfortable in their skin. This also leads on to them feeling people should be free to express themselves and can wear clothing that allows them to feel their truest self.
INSPIRATION
Unsure of where the clown obsession started Fungus has had a strong love for all sorts of clown and circus imagery for many years, even doing their dissertation on the topic of how clown costume has evolved over the years, this also powered their base of inspiration for their final projects and branding along with themes of liminal spaces and slightly unsettling imagery which mostly spread into the social media and their fashion film.
They also take influences from alternative fashions like VisualKei or Decora and the internet aesthetic trends like ClownCore, WeirdCore, and TraumaCore. They enjoy steampunk, new romantic, and vintage stylings too which aslo helped on influencing the designs they create today as well as taking ideas from styles found in their own collection of clown dolls and figurines.
