I am a creative and forward-thinking fashion enthusiast, driven by a constant desire for new challenges. My three years at the University of Leeds and my placement year at Bentley Motors have equipped me with in-depth knowledge and a particular focus on luxury fashion and lifestyles. I enjoy uncovering innovative approaches to the future of sustainable luxury.
During my university experience, I have immersed myself in a range of assignments and modules that reflect my testament to innovative sustainable luxury. My dissertation delved into the future of luxury and explored the experiential moments over ownership of material possessions. By shifting the focus towards memorable experiences, the fashion industry can embrace a more sustainable approach, minimising waste and encouraging conscious consumerism. This laid the foundation for my final university project, where I ventured into the realm of circular consumption, production and green energy.
INSPIRATION
The inspiration for my final project 'Summit', stemmed from discovering the amount of waste left behind by climbers on mountain trails across the world. For many consumers the waste being 'out-of-sight' also has meant its 'out-of-mind'. With this insight, I developed the brand Summit, a nonprofit foundation focusing on collecting waste from mountain trails and implementing a circular scheme. Plastic and human waste are currently infiltrating the local water sources and causing serious health risks.
Summit's first step towards a cleaner environment, collects disregarded plastic waste such as packaging, tents and clothing and transforms it into a 100% recycled clothing range by Patagonia. This contributes to minimising the micro-plastic pollution in water and stopping ingestion from the local communities. The second step is collecting human waste and implementing a green energy scheme, generating sustainable energy for the local communities which can be used for heating and cooking.
DETAIL
Creating Summit, an innovative, sustainable fashion brand has been a highlight of my university experience. With three promotional campaigns, Summit consumers are educated on how they can help improve the environment at home, whilst the Summit team tackle the waste in areas too extreme and fragile. I am excited at the prospect of entering the industry with all of the knowledge gained from University and practical experience from my year in industry.
