About Me

Hi, I'm Grace, a Fashion Design graduate from the University of Leeds

Being a passionate individual of fashion who immerses herself creatively, I have gained a comprehensive understanding of pattern making, garment construction and fashion illustration at university that are both mens and womenswear developing and applying this knowledge when undertaking my industry placement as a trainee womenswear designer for Primark.

Fuelled by my love of on-trend functional outerwear, streetwear and tailoring, my three final design collections have explored The Great Outdoors focusing on rock formation structures for the brand Stussy, influence from New York Hip-Hop street style and graffiti art for Carhartt and inspiration from The Mafia designing signature and luxurious suiting for The Frankie Shop. My love of experimentation and sampling has been explored in patchwork, print and dry point etching to create my graphic print designs, showcasing this work for the NEXT Trend Forecasting Award as a shortlisted finalist.

INSPIRATION

Festival Tent Wastage , Upcycling and Repurposing

My innovation to repurpose and upcycle tents has been highlighted in this A/W25 collection, constructing the printed quilted poncho of one of my final outfits from recycled tent materials. Screen printing on top, the vibrant ink colours and embroidery design have complemented my final outfits throughout.

Experimentation of drape and structural forms of tents has allowed creativity for the asymmetric dress and this collection playing around with more oversized shapes and silhouettes for the brand Sacai and mixing materials and print together.

SCREEN PRINTING

The Sacai x Festival Wastage A/W25 collection developed my exploration of the screen printing process for one of my final garments. Working alongside the laser cutting and print studio, I really enjoyed creatively exploring different medias and colour experimentation to achieve this final print design on my quilted poncho. My final outfit embraces the bright, bold colours seen at festivals and giving another purpose to discards and reminisces of festival tent wastage.
