I'm Silas, a Hong Kong-based Menswear designer, my design philosophy revolves around a distinctive emphasis on minimalism, meticulous attention to detail, and focus on silhouette and fabric choices. My commitment to superior craftsmanship ensures that every garment I create embodies exquisite refinement.
Having grown up in a vibrant international city and pursued my studies abroad for over six years, I have had the invaluable opportunity to draw inspiration from diverse cultures and the individuals I have encountered. This rich blend of experiences has endowed me with a unique perspective, enabling me to skillfully strike a harmonious balance in all aspects of my work.
INSPIRATION
Growing up in an Asian culture, I used to feel apprehensive about standing out and expressing myself through unconventional means such as dressing up. However, I have come to appreciate that self-expression through fashion is a beautiful and invaluable aspect of life. Fashion let us use our bodies as frames, allowing our clothing to speak on our behalf.
The inspiration for this project is rooted in the New Romantic movement of the 70s and 80s, during which the younger generation fearlessly expressed themselves through fashion, disregarding the constraints of gender. With this collection, I aim to not only challenge gender stereotypes but also to celebrate the beauty of the male form. Research on women's fashion, the human form, and cross-dressing culture, I seek inspiration to explore the delicate balance between masculinity and femininity in my work.
