My practice explores the intersectionality of womanhood and nature by blending natural light with warm colour palettes to create a soft, dreamy, and romantic mood; I aim to create imagery that can provide serenity and comfort for my audience and myself.
During my time at Bath Spa, I have developed and refined my work to what it is today by pushing myself to try different visual styles and creating a personal connection to the work that I produce. In my final year of studies I founded and curated Orlaya, a magazine that breaks convention by using a holistic approach to womanhood and incorporates all my key values of photography and art direction.
INSPIRATION
My latest project Orlaya, that I previously mentioned, strives to listen to its audience’s minds, bodies, souls, and emotions and provides a supportive community for women to feel peace. With content that explores connections to the ocean, Greek goddesses, and organic products, this publication challenges the fashion industry by always having its consumer in mind.
I always feel relaxed and gain a sense of clarity when I’m out in nature, so I have a real personal connection to the themes my work revolves around. I hope that the imagery I produce help others feel calm and grounded too.
DETAIL
Upon producing this magazine, each iteration acted as a personal healing experience. I was able to translate my emotions, experiences and frustrations as a young female into the work with a personal approach to each story and subject matter. The nature and purpose of the project provided me with confidence about my place within the industry and how I can positively aid my audience and myself.
