Jack Pluckrose is a London designer specialising in high performance sportswear garments and accessories that bridge the gap between essential function and streetwear aesthetics. Focusing on designing with meaning and purpose ready for future proof.
Throughout my design journey so far, I have always found myself inspired by nature itself and the connection we can gain with it. A lot of my ideas stem from nature, films and music, often looking at subjects I can find meaning in not necessarily connected with my field of work, This allows for a more original unique approach and gives fresh ideas to the concept.
INSPIRATION
My graduate collection METAMORPHOSIS is a six outfit collection comprised of nature influenced garments taking inspiration from ‘MA’ the japanese proverb meaning empty space, gaps and voids while using my own struggles with anxiety to help. This menswear collection is a unique combination of sportswear/tech-wear waterproof fabrics inter-twinning modern technologies of Japanese pattern cutting creating a contemporary collection infused with nature.
With a colour pallet consisting of deep greens and greys with pops of neon green creating a vibrant athletic look that is toned back to earth with accent colours. With silhouettes comprising of oversized sweatshirts juxaposed by baggy tech trousers. Creating layered outfits combining nature and urban life using flowing motives and oversized structured items allowing a vision of layers upon layers of carefully designed outfits that emphasise ‘empty space’ in every aspect.
DETAIL
A big part of the collection was the thin mohair knit of mushrooms heavily influenced by the urban nature we see around us. This piece makes the collection feel more natural with the performance aspect and bring a more ranged coheasive collection as a whole and ties in the urban environment with nature into our everyday lives.
