About Me

Hi, I'm Kajol, a Fashion Business & Promotion student from BCU.

I am Fashion Business student who loves the creative and theoretical approaches to understanding and adapting the fashion industry through my love of sustainability and inclusivity. I thrive being around cultural communities and have established a faith and culture society focusing on embracing spirituality and yoga for a student demographic.

After studying Fashion Business & Promotion for four years at university, I have capitalised on incorporating my passions and personal interests within my modules. Contributing sustainabilty, spirituality and cultural heritage to offer an adaptation that is more wholesome and increases longevity go wellbeing within the industry is a perspective I aspire to showcase when I enter into my chosen career path. I think, the COVID-19 pandemic has reiterated this initiative now more than ever.

INSPIRATION

My Inspiration sparked from reflecting on my Indian roots and celebrating women in India.

My Final Independent Project at university was creating an adaptable activewear range for a sustainable womenswear brand in India. The project celebrated women and female menstruation through offering an eastern female demographic an alternative to embracing womanhood and accepting the cyclical changes that women encounter. The purpose of the module was to raise awareness of the 'Taboo' perspectives surrounding female menstruation and bladder incontinency within a conservative society.

The activewear range consisted of 5 pieces; core and seasonal that protect, support and comfort women during such adaptations. Through implementing technological features such as nanotechnology and infrared conductivity to tackle muscle pain and cramping during menstruation and menopause As well as building a range to serve a modest market; through its design decisions and aesthetic.

MY WORK

PORTFOLIOS

DETAIL

I designed an adaptable collection tackling female menstruation, menopause & cyclical healthcare.

The range was inspired through embracing the communities within and around the brand in which the collection is for. The Summer House is a sustainable womenswear brand which offers a wester approach to fashion, whilst celebrating and empowering women within India. The brand authentically advocates sustainability and a higher sense of living whilst respecting fashion and it's artisans. The range designed for the brand diversifies their product range whilst offering an innovative service to their female demographic and local communities to break the stereotype associated with female menstruation, bladder inconstancy and cyclical healthcare.
