About Me

Hi, I'm Keeley a Fashion and Textile student from UoP

Keeley Agnew is a Fashion and textiles designer who specialises in unisex sustainable clothing, through a modular design approach. Using personal experiences of sensory needs to create a personal collection adaptable to everyday. Her work aims to push for comfortability for hidden disabilities and sensory needs in the fashion sector.

Starting textiles in middle school and continuing through GCSE and A-levels, I deepened my knowledge by completing a three-year Fashion and Textile degree. I gained extensive understanding of sustainability and textile design, enhanced by the Redress circular fashion design and Redress fibre choices and sustainability courses. Additionally, I developed skills in pattern cutting, construction, CAD design and digital printing. Throughout this journey, I realised the importance of sustainability and inclusivity in the fashion and textile industry, which now inspires my daily life and work.

INSPIRATION

Balancing Comfort and Environmental Sustainability through Thoughtful Design

Adaptable Function features a modular design with an oversized unisex fit and interchangeable elements for a versatile, customisable experience that promotes freedom of movement and airflow. Prioritising natural materials and reducing sensory noise, this collection reconnects with nature and supports sustainable living. Including weighted fabrics to mimic a blanket, while adjustable details and transformable garments enhance comfort and adaptability to every need.

Using deadstock or ethically sourced materials and zero-waste techniques for circularity and waste reduction. Created unique placements of colour and texture due to cloth restrictions. Blending leisurewear and tailoring, this collection is ideal for everyday living and transitions seamlessly between indoor and outdoor activities. 3D textures, layered triangular panels, and detachable elements offer temperature control, comfort, and stimming options, with rouleaus for a unique sensory-friendly approach.

Adaptable Function: Details of Sustainable Sensory Clothing

Growing up with a neurodivergent sister, I saw her struggle with the lack of sensory-friendly clothing, inspiring me to create awareness and promote inclusivity in fashion. Working with her taught me the essentials of designing to reduce everyday overwhelm using textures and layers. Conducting test fittings regularly to avoid sensory sensitivities such as elements of restriction early on in the design process. I developed three different weighted, adjustable outfits prioritising comfort, soft fabrics, and temperature regulation to accommodate various sensory sensitivities. Ensuring a customisable sensory comfort between the outfits when mixed. Incorporating calming elements like uplifting colours and gentle textures, the collection aims to provide tranquillity but still having a sustainable focus. Showcasing at the Barbican Conservatory, the sustainable garments connect wearers to nature, highlighting the contrast between the overstimulation of crowds and the need for comfort and calmness in life.
