I was born in Poland and moved to the UK in 2015, in search of a fresh change. I’m currently based in Leeds ready to explore creative job opportunities around the UK and further afield. My main highlights so far as a Fashion Photographer have been successful publications in international magazines as well as my photos being showcased in Tate Modern London.
From an early age, I’ve been drawn to the creative world, from acting on stage, to working as a model. It gave me great insight into how the industry works behind the scenes and the experience has been extremely beneficial for chasing my career in Fashion Photography. I am drawn to capturing female strength and confidence and my work aims to show off a timeless beauty of emotions and realness through bold compositions, movement, gestures and colours. I appreciate the use of natural light on location and take an artistic, experimental approach in the studio.
INSPIRATION
Many photographers try to communicate messages through their work. This was my aim when working on my final University project, where I focused on identity and my Polish roots. I did this by creating a fashion story inspired by traditional Polish costume, culture and folklore. Flowers, sequins and vibrant colours are dominant.
I take inspiration from my memories, surroundings but also by exploring other photographer’s work. It is important for me that every editorial has a story behind it and that my models are confident and comfortable in front of camera. This makes for a stronger, more real image. I wanted to make people think and feel when looking at my work. For those who have been to Poland, take them back in memory and for those who haven’t, make them feel like they want to go, visit and explore.
DETAIL
Polish costume is used on many occasions in Poland but one of the main occasions is dance, which was always present in my life. I wanted to capture and visualise this by experimenting with double exposure and movement. This also represents my journey - a movement in time and moving from Poland to the UK. I wanted to link these two elements together into one piece, one project. I constantly try to push my limits and experiment with new photography techniques to make my work more unique and stand out from others. My style is constantly evolving as I explore the possibilities of photography and develop my ideas through new collaborations and personal work.
