About Me

Hi, I am Ledi, a Fashion Textiles Print graduate from London.

I specialise in fashion textiles print design and garment construction. I am a perfectionist with my designs and pay a lot of attention to detail. Being creative and practical are my strengths. In my free time I enjoy going to art exhibitions for inspiration. I am a visual individual, so I enjoy taking photographs of textures and architecture.

I love collaging and incorporating photographic and graphic elements in my prints. I am a hands-on person, so I enjoy using hand techniques in my prints, but I also like combing hand elements with digital elements. In the future I would like to pursue a career in fashion textiles print because I love textiles and enjoy experimenting with different techniques to produce an outcome.

INSPIRATION

My inspiration came from exploring Albanian traditional wear and my family's heritage.

Archibania is a women's wear collection inspired by Albanian traditional wear. I wanted my collection to be based on my culture and on my family's heritage. The traditional wear in the Albanian culture are costumes that consist of layering, fringing and embellishments. The concept behind my collection is the contrast between the old and new buildings within architecture.

To show the contrasting element within my collection the top layers represent the old colourful buildings whereas the bottom layers represent the white/gold new buildings. The long fringing is an important element within my collection as it adds a modern touch to the inspired traditional wear garments, and it also adds a lot of movement to the overall collection.

MY WORK

PORTFOLIOS

DETAIL

Long fringing to create volume and movement.

The long fringing is an important element within my collection as it shows a lot of movement. I layered the fringing together to create more volume and movement. For my collection I experimented with the fringing by using dye sublimation, colour blocking and the dip dye technique. I added some long fringing to the earrings to empathise the fringing element used within my collection. The use of the long fringing on the garments enhances the silhouettes making each garment stand out and it empathises the modern element within my collection.
