My name is Maddie McGovern and I am a recent Graduate (2024) from the University of Leeds with a BA Fashion Marketing (Industry) degree. During my time at university I have explored my passion for fashion, graphic design and marketing.
I have gained experience at a UK leading marketing agency connective3 based in Leeds as a Graphic Design Intern. Producing digital PR, social media and website assets, for a range of national and international clients. The opportunity to develop new skills has been transferable into this final year project. After University I am putting into practice the skills and techniques I have developed throughout my degree and year in industry, securing a role at PrettyLittleThing as a Junior Graphic Designer.
INSPIRATION
I was super excited to have been shortlisted for the Fashion Communication Portfolio Award at Graduate Fashion Week. Innovation and visual development was at the centre of my project, showing the process of promotional activities and communication tactics. The development of the brand Zephyr focused on being a customer centred brand. The overall aim has been to address the psychological and behavioural reasons from anxiety to clothing choices as to why individuals.
Taking innovative approaches by designing a fashionable and innovative solution. The purpose of the brand is centred around helping people to embrace public spaces, developing confidence within themselves which will result in more opportunities for connection with others. The insights into the current developments of wearable technology has fuelled the innovative creation of zephyr, a device that could minimise the common uncomfortable feelings that individuals experience on a daily basis.
DETAIL
‘Own the Breeze’ campaign is the initial activation that aims to generate awareness about Zephyr through the displaying the values of confidence through utilising technological advancements. Creating an immersive brand experience for the consumer, leaving a memorable impression. Followed by campaign two ‘The Ones Who’ which centres around the reasons as to why people might have hot flashes, aiming to address and discuss the ‘issue and perceived embarrassment' . The brand focuses on inclusivity and acknowledges each individual has different reasons as to why they might have hot flashes. Finally, Zephyr will ‘Share the Feeling’ through creating a final strategic initiative that focuses on creating brand advocacy by employing community orientated communication tactics. With the core objective to develop meaningful connections amongst individuals within a secure and positive environment.
