What better way to showcase my identity than through art… I’ve always been fascinated by the idea of conceptual art but then again, everything has a hidden symbolism behind it.
I was born and raised in Egypt, surrounded by so much history and life. It has always been a constant aim of mine to honour my rich culture in our modern day. I am passionate about high fashion and the craftsmanship that goes into a perfectly tailored garment.
INSPIRATION
“Cultural Fawda” (Cultural Chaos) is a testament to the dynamic relationship between fashion and cultural identity. Reflecting on the current socio-cultural dynamics in Egypt, it questions the impact of rapid westernisation and the potential homogenisation of Egypt's indigenous values and traditional lifestyles, providing a nuanced understanding of these complex interactions.
Where tradition meets innovation in the realm of fashion design, “Cultural Fawda” is an exploration of innovative pattern cutting and tailored garment construction. Stemming from our timeline I have drawn inspiration from Ottoman opulence, French sophistication and tailored British silhouettes. Each era has informed my capsule collection.
DETAIL
With meticulous attention to detail, my collection sparks meaningful dialogue and redefines sartorial expression. This project is not just a culmination of skills but a testament to my passion and vision as an aspiring designer and pattern cutter. I took the simple concept of layering and explored innovative pattern-cutting methods that fit the mid to high market area with a desire to develop upon minimalist, timeless and intelligent design. Combining pattern magic methodologies with traditional pattern manipulation helped achieve the perfected fit with unique design elements, ensuring that each garment meets the highest industry standards. Every design represents a sophisticated take on Egyptian heritage. With a timeless intent, my capsule collection offers versatility in styling, allowing for seamless pairings and harmonious combinations.
