I’m an aspiring fashion activist and expressive artist mainly focusing on conceptual concepts within my work. Designing for everyone: menswear, womenwear and unisex clothing. I like to focus on designs that embody an abstract technique. I'm often drawn to bright/primary colours in my work as my work is visually loud and bold.
I am always looking at fashion from a fresh fashion forward perspective. Underlying theme of expression through my designs and garments are expressing a deeper meaning than the clothing simply looking pretty or just covering the body.
INSPIRATION
My concept for my Major fashion project is titled “Cutting Shapes” this entails the use of movement and dance to be used as the main focus as this is a strong passion of the way I express myself. Looking at exploring the boundaries of freedom and restriction. Creating a unique way of pattern cutting by using the negative space of my dance movements to create my second look. My muse is based on myself where I look into a personal way of relating movement in the print by using my body as a paint brush.
Makeing the print personal and show identity through the print. Another underlying concept is looking at “Hidden identity” so the main focus is on the movement of the garment and the print being used as an expression of self and when adding a hood gives the viewer an uncomfortable feeling however I feel this give my work a different perspective.
DETAIL
My muse stemmed from my love for contemporary and emotive dancing this is where I find myself to be my most authentic self when immersed in dance. This is my way of communicating emotion, feeling and energy as I find it hard to describe verbally. Being dyslexic I’ve found communication difficult, however through dance the unexplainable is explained this to communicate everything and wanted to bring these aspects through in my final garment s by mashing my movement with print to give an expression of identity in a different unique way.
