Focusing on sustainability and up-cycling, I design women’s clothing that embodies craftsmanship with an emphasis on femininity and bold silhouettes. I want my clothing to make people feel both confident and elegant, and to feel good about owning garments made using ethical practices and ethically sourced materials.
My designs stand out by offering high levels of comfort, but with no compromise in terms of style or fabric quality and durability. My clothing also offers an adaptable mix of everyday wear and pieces suitable for special occasions. I have a keen eye for detail and I design with styling in mind to elevate my garments and complete the look.
INSPIRATION
Growing up fascinated by the paintings of Degas showing ballerinas in the classroom rather than on-stage, this made me think about how much work it takes to become a professional dancer and made me look back on my own experience in ballet classes. Ballet has had an enormous impact on the fashion industry dating back to the 1930s and fashion inspired by ballet is everywhere even if it isn’t obvious and is probably in most people's wardrobes.
With the recent resurgence in ballet-inspired clothing on runways across the Globe, I wanted to create my own spin on this by incorporating aspects of costumes worn on stage for performances with clothes worn backstage in rehearsals - ultimately to move away from the perfectionist stereotype that ballerinas are held to and reflect more of the reality that they face instead.
DETAIL
Sustainability comes through fabric and manufacturing choices, or through recycling and upcycling. A highlight of my collection is a dress made out of old tutus bought second hand from Vinted, recycled and elevated into a statement piece capturing the style and flow of a ballet performance.
