About Me
Paola Maria Leonetti is an Art Director based in Rome
First interested in images and their expressive qualities, with a focus on storytelling and narratives mediated by visual language, Paola Maria Leonetti approached the Fashion Communication: Fashion Editor, Styling & Communication BA at Accademia Costume & Moda in Rome, where she will be graduating from in February 2024.
Her approach to Art Direction is driven by a keen interest in innovative image making, through which she aims to expand the possibilities inherent to the photographic and videographic languages. In her works, Paola seeks value and depth in each creation, believing firmly in the power that visual representations have to promote new perspectives and push collective thought beyond its boundaries.
INSPIRATION
Imaginative storytelling, self-introspection
Her first inspiration for her works came from a reflection on the self: her interests, emotions, experiences. It is through them that Paola works to create a captivating storytelling that can both be self-reflective and impersonal at the same time. She is fascinated by the power that minds have of turning lived experiences and emotions into images. Her initial approach to storytelling is driven by this synaesthesia, and aimed at exploring sexuality, secrecy and decadence, amongst other themes.
In her practice, she aspires to maintain an anchored yet innovative gaze, and she tries to convey so through solid research and continuous experimentation. Paola is motivated by a great curiosity that allows her to explore and question what is around her. She appreciates creativity in its most imaginative forms, which challenge the ordinary and allow one to expand one's vision.
