About Me

Salma Hassan, Fashion Marketing Student

My name is Salma Hassan and I am a student currently studying Fashion & Fashion Marketing at the University of Derby. I am a Swedish-born Somali woman raised in Leicester and would consider myself a strong and driven individual.

I have a passion for the arts and fashion as I am creative, I like to explore different aspects of the industry and with this, I am able to find many ways to think outside the box.

INSPIRATION

HodanSkin is inspired by Somali women and the traditions passed down through generations

Hodan Skin is inspired by my mother who has taught me and my sisters everything about skincare and wellness shaping us as young women. Even though major Western beauty conglomerates and advertising agencies have been noticeably absent from Somalia,it does not mean that the women have not developed and perfected their own beauty routines.

As I did some research on all the benefits of Qasil, I have decided to make this ingredient the main component to focus on for my concept. Qasil is an ingredient that can be mixed with oils and other natural herbs to create a mixture jam packed with beneficial nutrients for the skin.
