Samara is a Spanish creative technical designer that focuses on the construction and craftsmanship of her garments, promoting the quality and uniqueness of every piece created.
After exploring different areas of fashion design and making at university, my aim as a designer is to create timeless, effortless pieces that bring old garments and textiles back to life. For my FMP I have focused on creating elegant and wearable womenswear pieces, in the future I would like to expand my horizons and create more gender neutral pieces, focusing on the quality of each garment created, making unique and long lasting pieces.
INSPIRATION
This graduate collection is inspired by my Spanish heritage and childhood memories of wearing flamenco dresses at the fair. My mother and my younger sister have been a big inspiration for this project, looking at photos of my mother in a flamenco dress when she was younger and comparing it to my sister and what she wears now. The silhouettes created by the movement of the dresses when dancing have inspired the waves that have become a staple of this collection.
Motivated by the need to extend the life of a garment, this collection focuses on the wearability and interchangeability of all pieces which have been thought out to be worn on any occasion. Certain garments are reversible and designed to be dressed up and down, creating an elevated collection that shows versatility on every garment. This is a fun and sophisticated collection that brings romance, power and femininity with the sense of drama that one would experience when in Seville.
