About Me

Hi, I'm Sofia, a Fashion Design Graduate from the Uni of South Wales

From studying Fashion Design at College and Uni I have noticed that people don't design with purpose anymore. Being someone who was brought up in a tradional Italian home I felt the need to break the boundaries of traditon and express my individuality through fashion to create impactful collections.

I am a designer who promotes well-being and self-positivity. I create edgy garments that are very conceptual and have purpose. I want people to be able to express emotion, to be able to escape and feel free when they wear my garments. Building strength, making people love themselves and all their imperfections and insecurities. I aim to target the market by being size inclusive and gender neutral. No matter who you are you'll always find a place in the community I want to build.

INSPIRATION

Individuality and expression is the foundation of fashion!

From an early age I have had a love for fashion, it started to grow when I began designing whimsical garments for myself and found my own individual style. From there, I researched alternative styles and fashion icons. I gained lots of inspiration from the 50’s and 60’s. I created my first collection, ‘Curtains’, in CAVC, which were showcased in the Welsh Millenium Centre. This gave me the confidence to follow my passion and enrol myself into University to to gain more knowledge of the fashion industry.

My final collection was inspired by optical illusion art and space to create garments that give you a sense of escapism but are also very wearable and give you confidence. Using strong silhouettes and bold graphic lines with a monochromatic colour palette to allow a person to feel strong, empowered and confident so one can be fearless and conquer anything.

Fashion Film for my final collection

I created a film to showcase my Final Collection. The message behind the film was power and strength by becoming your true self. It was filmed on location at Ogmore beach to create a galatic warroir vibe. The make up was a collabration with a makeup artists named Kat Hudd a student. We created a bold, striking makeup look using black to enhance the eyes and adding blue for contrast. I directed the models to walk and stand in poses that were dominant and dynamic to portray control and confidence.

"Fashion should be a form of escapism and not a form of imprisonment." - Alexander McQueen
