I am a passionate and highly creative BA (Hons) Fashion Communication Student with a year in Industry from Northumbria University. My work ranges from live music photography, musician portraits, fashion photography, graphic design, creative direction, and styling. My portfolio and photographs are an extension of who I am and showcase my interests and passions.
I am constantly striving to go the extra mile and produce creative and visually interesting work. Alongside studying Fashion Communication I have collated a large number of projects, working to build my experience within the industry. I completed a year in industry with J Barbour & Sons assisting their PR and extended global marketing team. I have also worked as a music photographer for publications such as Clash Magazine, Notion, Darkus and Dork, and for various musicians. These experiences have helped me develop my skills, gain knowledge of the industry and shape me into who I am today.
INSPIRATION
Image-making excites me, capturing a moment in time, that split-second moment that might otherwise be lost within a million others. Specialising in digital imaging and analogue film photography, I love the process and techniques of creating pictures. I take inspiration from various creatives and photographers while wanting to experiment and try new things. Photography is so important and establishes identity and aesthetics for a brand, person or artist.
Photography is how I express my creativity. Taking photos isn’t just me picking up a camera, it’s showing the way I see things around me. I love the access and imagery my camera gives me. It’s become such a part of how I think that when I’m not shooting, I am imagining the shot. I want my photos to light people up and catch people's eye. This is what I will forever strive for. My ambition is to keep creating, networking and learning from everyone and everything around me.
DETAIL
My Final Major Project ‘TAKEN BY STORM’ is a creative photography publication of my music photography. Presented in the form of one continuous photographic montage, the book consists of live-action gig shots, snapshots of backstage and behind-the-scenes, stylised press shots, and portraits. The collection features photography of a variety of artists from more established names to local acts on the rise. Portraits of local acts portray my creativity through styling and photographic techniques due to the freedom and access I had to the musicians. This book is a vivid and visual account of my adventures behind the camera, at the start of my photography career, giving an insight into the moment and circumstances of the photoshoots, including personal recollections of the subjects I worked with. It is a collection of wonderful musicians I have been fortunate to have shot, captured and admired so far.
