Hello! I am Suha, a passionate photographer and creative director dedicated to celebrating diversity and challenging societal norms through my visual storytelling. My journey in the creative industry has been driven by a desire to amplify the voices and talents of BAME individuals, bringing their unique perspectives to the forefront.
My work explores themes of identity, culture, and expression, inspired by the rich tapestry of my heritage. Every project I undertake carries a piece of me, drawing from my experiences, heritage, and identity. My art is not just a visual expression but a heartfelt narrative that challenges societal norms and celebrates diversity. Through my lens, I strive to amplify the voices of individuals and create a more inclusive and vibrant creative landscape.
INSPIRATION
It seeks to dispel false narratives, honour a range of experiences, and celebrates the various ways that black masculinity is expressed while tearing down boundaries, giving people the confidence to put their mental health first. The campaign aims to build a more affirming and inclusive society for everyone by encouraging communication, allyship, and social justice advocacy.
As a recent graduate, I am excited to showcase my latest projects, which capture the essence of Black masculinity and style, challenging conventional judgments and highlighting the beauty of individuality. Empowering black and brown men to embrace their identities and narratives, fostering a sense of pride and confidence.
DETAIL
Growing up around 6 brothers and my male friends my whole life, I saw the challenges and stereotypes they would face on a day to day basis, both internal and external, which made me want to dedicate my project on them as not enough attention is spread on this, particularly visually. The misconception that black and brown males are 'drug dealers/gang members' because of their clothing choices is something I wanted to debunk. In actuality, your appearance should never define who you are.
