Meng Tensile derives from the phonetic sounds of my Chinese name, and I choose the word “Tensile” because I hope that, I will be, just like the original meaning of the word itself, more resilient, more springy, and more adaptable to the ups and downs in self-future careers.
My unified design context and the atmosphere for each of the project, is that: Self-discovery is an art, and self-acceptance is a practice. And my works always convey a very strong emotion in its visual effect of my personal identity. For me, I prefer the kind of handi stuff, because I think the craftsmanship can bring people a strong emotional atmosphere as soon as they see my work. Thus these efforts that I spent on works can also be empathized at the same time.
INSPIRATION
She is the first transgender Buddhist in the Himalayan Tibetan region to disclose his transgender identity and has been accepted by his family and the local social environment. Tenzin presents a sharp contradiction between individual identity and the sociocultural environment, and this is in fact a concrete manifestation of the conflict of many cultures and consciousnesses in the current society.

DETAIL
Since the form and shape of each three-dimensional unit is the same, I made changes to the texture and shape of the connection between units, such as metal clasps, plastic ties, matte paint, and the addition of plush fur,to make a relatively large distinction between the final fabric presentation and the texture of clothing with different looks. For the beads weaving, I extract the contours of these objects, applied them as patterns for weaving. These headdresses are not only act as the embellishment in the collection, but also carry the symbolism of oneself intense conflict between awakening personal consciousness and religious divinity in the gender cultural background.
