About Me

Hi I'm Thea! A fashion design gradate from DeMontFort University

My goal as a designer is to weave untold narratives through the realm of fashion. I am dedicated to enriching everyday experiences by infusing them with design that delights. My aspiration is to develop conscientiously made products by utilising eco-friendly materials and upcycling techniques.

My work delves into my family narratives by the means of patchwork. I am dedicated to promoting sustainability through my collections, this collection exemplifies that ethos by being entirely crafted from dead stock fabrics and denim jeans sourced from charity shops. A significant aspect of my design methodology involves the tactile and three-dimensional process of physically working on a mannequin. I adopt a hands-on visual approach to design, incorporating fabric manipulations and experimentation until the design is fully realised.

INSPIRATION

A love letter to my Grandparents- "Dearest Alan, I Love You xx"

This collection serves as a heartfelt tribute, narrating the love story of my grandparents. Paper has the remarkable ability to capture and preserve our memories, especially through love letters where we document our daily lives, gradually weaving a unique tale. Over four years, my grandparents exchanged letters around three times a week until they were united in marriage. This compilation showcases 61 years of love and how it helps them overcome challenges like Grandad's recent Dementia diagnosis.

DETAIL

Hand embrodiery

Hand embroidery is a prominent feature in my collection. The embroidery consists of quotes from letters that my grandmother wrote to my grandfather when they were separated. I aimed to preserve the handwritten essence by opting for hand stitching over digital methods.

"Paper is a witness to our dreams, fears, and hopes, chronicling the story of our lives."- Mark Kurlansky
