I'm a 23-year-old photographer from Norway's west coast. About ten years ago, I started taking pictures. I've also been acting for roughly ten years, which I believe influences my photography. It is possible to categorise my photographs as dramatic and conceptual. I also enjoy finding original approaches when creating fashion imagery.
My final major project includes the book for which I received a Graduate Fashion Week Award. The future of society and how new technologies may impact people's daily lives are topics covered in the book. I used a number of unique methods, including 3D, 3D scanning, virtual clothes, and AR technologies when making the images for the book. I've also taken the opposite path and investigated conventional methods like Camera Obscura and analogue cameras.
INSPIRATION
When I was young, I played in the theatre. For over ten years I stood on stage and performed in front of people. I distinctly recall being mesmerised by the set design, the lighting, and all of the costumes. I believe that event served as my photographic inspiration.
In my younger years, I was also a practising magician. I performed brand-new shows as a travelling magician in my hometown every year. I adopt a simplistic and exaggerated style when doing magic tricks. People claim that my photographs also exhibit this look. I enjoy colourful and exaggerated visuals. I also find it cool when people look closely at my pictures. When they take the time to delve deeper and uncover the secrets of the image. Just like magic tricks.
DETAIL
A key component of the concept for the book "Post" was new technology. The book reveals a fear of the planet's future. In addition to discussing future technology, I also wanted to show it in action. That's why I got down and studied a good amount of fresh techniques to use in the images. AR technology, 3D scanning, virtual clothes and 3D constructions are some of the techniques used in the book. By adopting such tools, the book achieved a completely different dimension. I feel the technology used made the team for the book more clear and more focused. In the coming years, I think the fashion industry will continue to push the limits of technology. There will be an increase in the number of digital photo shoots where clothing, models, and settings may all be created digitally. Although a portion of the industry dislikes this radical change, I believe it is necessary to keep up with the development. I cover both the advantages and disadvantages of digitalization in my book.
