ACCADEMIA COSTUME & MODA, HISTORY, CULTURE, RESEARCH AND EXPERIMENTATION AT THE HEART OF WHERE THE INDUSTRY EVOLVES. 

Accademia Costume & Moda (Rome & Milan) has a long tradition in educating professionals for the Fashion, Costume, Communication and Management, a center of excellence for its unique educational method. Founded in 1964 in Rome by Rosana Pistolese costume and fashion historian. Accademia is “a laboratory for research and ideas, a meeting point for participation, communication and life”, establishing itself today among the 3 best fashion schools in the world for its undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the Category Fashion Design, according to the “The Best Fashion Schools in the World 2019″ of The Business of Fashion (BoF).


Accademia Costume & Moda also ranks second in the world for the number of wins of the prestigious LVMH Graduate Prize, in Paris won 3 times with Francesca Richiardi, Alice Paris (both alumni of our BA in Costume and Fashion), and Scylia Chevaux (alumna MA Accessories).

LE MASCHERE DEL TEATRO ITALIANO 2022 – most prestigious Theatre Award in Italy.
o 2022 (BA Costume and Fashion) Ludovica Ottaviani, Matilde Annis, Stefano Pio Ritrovato, Nora Sala, Carlotta Bufalini, Valentina Poli and Flavia Garbini winners of the “Best Costume Designer” Award, having designed and developed the costumes for “the Rattle Cap” (Pirandello), directed by Gabriele Lavia.
The first time in the history of the Prize that it is assigned to students of a School.


The Undergraduate programs at Accademia Costume & Moda are 3 -year courses recognized by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research (MUR) and are intended for to students who have completed their high school education and wish to initiate an education in the fields of Fashion, Accessories & Costume Design, Fashion Communication or Fashion Management sectors.

BA (Hons) Costume & Fashion (Rome Campus only)

The First Level Degree in Costume & Fashion is a unique Undegraduate Programme in which the subject areas of Costume, Fashion and Accessories Design are perfectly combined and balanced within the same educational path. This provides students with a solid cultural, stylistic and design preparation in all the fields related to the development, positioning and commercialization of the fashion product. Every discipline supports the student in the acquisition of drawing, design and technical competences, thanks to an approach linked to design and product through culture, research, experimentation and practice.


The courses provide Design and Technical competences through a cultural, laboratorial and experimental approach directed to design and/ or exploration. The final aim is to facilitate the access to the working world, also thanks to Industry Projects in collaboration with the best companies of the sector that will support students in shaping their personal creative identity and cultivating a continuous inspiration linked to the interpretation of the knowledge acquired in the areas of history of fashion, ancient and contemporary art, cinema, theatre, communication and management.


BA (Hons) Fashion Editor, Styling & Communication (Rome and Milan Campuses)

The First level degree Fashion Editor, Styling & Communication has been developed to respond to the growing demand of the industry for professionals able to work in the areas of product and brand narratives in terms of Editing, Styling & Communication.
The objectives are aimed at ensuring a strong preparation related to the methods and artistic techniques along with specific professional competences for the purpose of conveying knowledge, expressive and design method in the use of creative tools in the communication process, with specific reference to Editing, Photography, Graphics, Design, Advertising and Journalism in the fashion area.
* On Milan campus the course is waiting to receive the recognition from the Italian Ministry of Education (MIUR).


Undergraduate Course in Fashion Design Management (Milan Campus only)

This three-year course in Fashion Design Management embodies a double theme: Design as the main aim of a brand or a company that operates in the creative area of fashion is to work on design and process, on method and on the product that wants to communicate and distribute to the market effectively; Management because the final aim of this study path is to shape innovative managers able to understand and improve the processes and the complexity of companies that deal with the product and its communication, conceptual, economic and sustainable strategies that lead the DNA of a brand.
The objectives are aimed at integrating, in an interdisciplinary approach, the acquisition of historical and cultural competences, technical subjects, theoretical-practical topics needed for the development of innovative professional profiles able to face the fashion sector and respond to present and future requirements. Responsible innovation, economic, financial and environmental sustainability are at the centre of the entire path.
Upon completion of the Undergraduate Course in Fashion Design Management students will be able to pursue a career as Product Managers, Supply Chain Managers, Brand Managers and to work in all the roles that deal with design studios and that are responsible for the brand strategies. Furthermore, students will be able to work inside marketing and merchandising offices, strategic communication, sales, showrooms and to cooperate with designers and creatives in the definition of new brands and products in the fashion area.
This course is waiting to receive the recognition from the Italian Ministry of Education (MIUR).
