Plymouth College of Art is an independent university-sector art school, founded in 1856, run by artists and designers for artists and designers, widely regarded as a dynamic catalyst for creative learning and social justice.
We believe that making is as important as reading and writing, as science and maths, and that the purpose of learning is inseparable from that of living your life.
We provide a space where people come together, explore new horizons, and push the boundaries of creative practice. Together, we imagine, experiment, think, learn, make things, and make things happen.
Our creative and hands-on degree is for students who aspire to work in fashion imaging, publishing, styling, promotion or social media.Â
Whilst exploring a broad range of techniques including photography, moving image, market research, art direction and journalism, you will develop strong conceptual, visual and written communication skills. Additionally, inductions into industry relevant software and equipment, along with access to our on-site photographic studios, will help your image making to evolve and elevate your studio practice to professional levels.
Our students interact with the fashion industry from year one; working on live projects with brands, interviewing guest speakers and completing exciting workplace internships. Recent course contributors have included Vogue, ID, Dior Homme, GQ, Size?, Amazon, Vice, Topshop, Ellesse, WGSN and LSN.
Our programme produces independent graduates who are ready to shape the fashion, media, lifestyle and beauty industries of the future.
Our BA (Hons) Fashion Design course provides a comprehensive design education for independently-minded fashion thinkers and makers who are looking to influence change within the fashion industry.
From future forecasting, concept and design development, creative pattern cutting through to leading compelling marketing campaigns, Fashion is one of the largest employers in the UK’s creative industries - offering endless opportunities to those forward-thinking individuals who seek to challenge the assumptions of design, take creative risks and communicate their individual style through their work.
